Holy Week brings us through the home stretch of the Lenten season. It begins with Palm Sunday and ends with Holy Saturday. The big days in between include Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday) and Good Friday. According to Scott P. Richert, those two plus Holy Saturday equal the Triduum.
Holy Week presents a great teaching opportunity for Catholic parents with young ones. We acknowledge an eventful week with Christ’s Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection all taking place. It’s important to explain these events to your children.
A great way to teach kids about things is through crafting! It’s fun and memorable. You all spend time together and everybody learns something.
A great Holy Week craft idea
Abby from Just a Girl and Her Blog shared a wonderful craft that will help teach children about Holy Week and the story of Easter. It’s very reminiscent of some Advent calendar activities and we think that’s cool!
Not too many supplies are needed:
8 small boxes
an assortment of other small supplies she listed
Each box has a day of Holy Week on its front and a Biblical verse on the inside. The verses were perfectly chosen.
