Pope Francis set a special prayer intention for the month of July. We were excited to read that it’s sports! That’s right, sports can certainly help grow the Catholic faith. Pope Francis urges us to pray that “playing sports makes us strong and helps us grow in friendship”.
We read an awesome post written by Grace from Praying with Grace about some movies Catholic parents can show their children this month in honor of Pope Francis’s special prayer intention. Grace did a really terrific job weeding out some films that may not be appropriate for kids under 12. She includes a ratings system (created by Catholic News Service) to inform readers of each film’s level of appropriateness. There are some really stellar films included on Grace’s list.
Some of our favorites from the list include:
- The Greatest Game Ever Played – for the golfers!
- Hoosiers – for basketball fans!
- Remember the Titans – for the football players!
- Miracle – for those who like hockey!
That’s just a preview of this list! There are plenty of other great ideas that you can find here: http://www.prayingwithgrace.org/2014/07/summer-movies-pope-francis-style.html
In honor of Pope Francis’s July prayer intention have a family movie night this month! Maybe one of these films will be good for you and your loved ones.
